Paper UAV

In a series of games which will be presented in the forthcoming months, we start first with a relatively simple, yet effective game, which is a modified version of the paper airplane game developed in Northrop Grumman Corporation, in the 90s.

During the game, trainees will produce paper airplanes in three successive runs (push production, pull production, one piece flow). Each round lasts for 6 minutes. A minimum of 8 trainees are required to play the game. The maximum number of active participants is 15. In case you have at least 16 trainees, it is recommended to form two teams, and play the game parallel (it is even more fun, due to the competition between the teams and the opportunity to share the experiences).

Not more than 90 minutes are required to play the game (including briefing and wrap-up).

We have played and polished the game in several variants, several dozen times in a number of companies and in public workshops since 2001.

The essence of the game is summarized in the document, what you can download for free. That includes our best practices, therefore the risk of something going wrong is absolutely minimized.

The document contains everything you need for running a successful simulation game event. However, an abundance of small tools and tables have been developed, to make gaming even easier, more useful and more fun. The Excel file also contains a more realistic cash flow and profit calculation, than the original game.

The file includes the following:

  • a concise summary page (including rules and instructions)
  • a stopwatch
  • a dashboard, recording and showing the results of the 3 runs
  • calculation of KPIs (with explanations)
  • graphical description of folding the airplanes
  • list of players and roles (with alternatives)
  • pull signal table
